A Maine woman injured during a skiing accident at Snowbird died Tuesday at LDS Hospital.
Hart B. Holan, 51, was skiing with her husband near Cirque ski run when she attempted to cross a ridge and lost control after one of her skis hooked a trail marker. She fell and slid down the face of a mountain that had several rocks showing through the snow, a Salt Lake sheriff's report said.A Snowbird ski patrol member told a deputy sheriff that Holan suffered head and internal injuries in the 10:30 a.m. accident.
The skier was flown by medical helicopter to LDS Hospital where she died at 12:45 p.m., the report said.
Snowbird officials refused to comment on the accident except to issue a brief press release that stated the woman had been injured. Deputy sheriffs and state medical examiner officials could not be reached on Saturday to confirm the cause of death.
Cirque run is located near the top of the resort and can be accessed only by tram.
