Center fielder Ellis Burks agreed Saturday to a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox, thus averting the salary arbitration process.
Burks was the last of eight Boston players who had filed for arbitration to sign with the club. An arbitration hearing had been set for Monday. Burks had been seeking $2.1 million, while the Red Sox' offer was $1. 3 million. His base salary last season was $475,000.
