The Salt Lake County offices of United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage Corp., Ogden, closed 352 mortgage loans in the fourth quarter of 1990, a 29 percent increase over the 272 closed transactions in the fourth quarter of 1989.

Loan volume for the offices was $22.9 million, an 18 percent increase over the $19.4 million in the same period a year earlier.These figures continued the increase in mortgage loans United Savings and Western Mortgage had in every quarter of 1990. Loan volume for the companies increased from $68.5 million to $94.3 million and the number of loan transactions increased 35 percent from 1,027 to 1,390.

Mary Garner, vice president for residential lending, said United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage combined are number one in Salt Lake County for number of recordings and loan volume. She said these figures represent 10 percent of the Salt Lake County market share, a 1.5 percent increase over last year.

Both companies combined closed 1,379 loans insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
