An 81-74 victory over BYU appears to be just what the doctor ordered for Ute basketball player Paul Afeaki, who suffered a gunshot wound late Thursday by an irate motorist. The Saturday night triumph enabled Utah to win the WAC title outright for the first time in 14 years while boosting the Utes' season record to 24-2. In the Western Athletic Conference, the Utes are now 13-1. Second-place BYU falls to 10-4. Utah rolled to a 43-33 lead at halftime but saw the Cougars roar back to within three in the second half. The two teams will meet March 2 in the season finale in Provo.
