The Milwaukee Bucks on Friday traded guard Ricky Pierce to the Seattle SuperSonics for 6-foot-7 guard Dale Ellis.
The deal depends on each player passing his new team's physical examination, the Bucks said, adding they expect Ellis to be available for Milwaukee's game Sunday in Orlando.Ellis, 30, traded by the Dallas Mavericks to Seattle in 1986, was averaging better than 15 points a game for the Sonics this season. He missed the first 17 games of the regular season because of a foot injury.
Pierce, 31, acquired by Milwaukee in a 1984 trade with the San Diego Clippers, led the Bucks this season with a 22.5 average.
The 6-foot-4 Pierce received the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1987 and 1990 and was on the Eastern Conference roster for the All-Star Game last weekend.
There has been speculation in Milwaukee for more than two weeks that Pierce would be traded. Because the Bucks refused to renegotiate his contract, he said Thursday, he concluded they no longer wanted him.
