Construction work on Lake Powell's Bullfrog Marina launch ramp may cause delays and interruptions of ferry service between Bullfrog and Hall's Crossing marinas this spring, the Utah Department of Transportation said.
The National Park Service is expected to begin widening and extending the public launch ramp at Bullfrog next week and complete the project by Memorial Day weekend, said UDOT spokesman Kim Morris. While construction will cause some delay at the public ramp, two lanes will be kept open on the ramp for boat launches and removals, Morris said.
Crews will widen the ramp by 50 feet and extend it to the low water line.
"When completed, this work will allow for increased launching capacity from the ramp as well as temporary loading and unloading facilities for the John Atlantic Burr cross-lake ferry."
Low water levels at the lake have rendered the ferry's regular docking facilities useless. Ramp improvements will allow the ferry to use the public ramp until the lake rises again or until the ferry's ramps are extended.
