An Orem attorney whose license has been suspended is scheduled for a first appearance next week in 4th Circuit Court on a second-degree felony theft charge.

The charge against Richard B. Johnson, 38, was filed Feb. 4, charging Johnson with unlawfully taking control of property worth more than $1,000. While practicing law, Johnson is accused of misusing money entrusted to him on July 31, 1989.Johnson received a six months suspension of his law practice, effective March 29, 1990, by the Utah State Bar Association but has not applied for reinstatement.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 20.
