The scheduled July 1 incorporation of the Elko County town of Wendover, on the Utah border, will mean a loss of $206,586 to the city of Elko, city council members have been told.

By incorporating, Wendover will qualify for more than $300,000 in sales tax revenues generated in the county, and 67 percent of that money will be at Elko's expense, City Manager Lorry Lipparelli said.Legislation passed in 1989 allows the city to raise its property taxes to make up for the loss.
