A newborn boy was found unharmed early Friday in a trash bin at a convenience store, authorities said.

A store employee taking out the trash before dawn discovered the infant, wrapped in several blankets, on top of the refuse in the bin in Brooklyn's Bensonhurst neighborhood, police said. The blond, blue-eyed infant, weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and believed to be a day or two old "could not have been in the dumpster very long," said Michael Heller, a spokesman for Maimonides Medical Center. "He's in fine condition. He looks good," Heller said.
