JB's Restaurants Inc. has elected Thomas K. Welch to the company's board of directors.

Welch is chairman of the Salt Lake City Olympic Bid Committee and former executive vice president and corporate counsel of Smith's Food and Drug Centers Inc. He replaces Jack M. Broberg, founder of the company, who has reached mandatory retirement age after serving 28 years on the board. Broberg was named an honorary board member."We salute Mr. Broberg for his pioneering effort over the years as well as his support and contribution. He will be missed. However, we are pleased to have Mr. Welch, who has over 17 years' experience in the food industry, join JB's board," said Clark D. Jones, chairman and chief executive officer.

"While we have one of the strongest boards in the restaurant industry, we will continue building upon this wealth of experience."

JB's Restaurants operates 132 JB's family-style restaurants, one franchised JB's and three franchised Sbarro restaurants in 10 Western states.
