Richard T. Hazel, manager of information services for the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, has been promoted to director of business development, according to Fred S. Ball, chamber president.

Hazel has worked for the chamber since 1989, when he was hired as a research assistant. In his new position, Hazel will be responsible for chamber programs and committees dealing with business development, education and the arts and will continue to be the staff liaison for the Salt Shakers, the chamber's goodwill ambassadors.He graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in economics and sociology and is a candidate for the master of business administration degree at Westminster College.
