N. Patricia Freston, manager of personnel services for the past 101/2 years for Questar Corp., has been selected to receive the 1990 Athena Businesswoman of the Year award by the board of governors of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

She will be honored Thursday, Feb. 21, at noon during a luncheon in the Salt Palace that will be part of the chamber annual Business to Business Expo. The award is sponsored by First Security Bank of Utah.The award is given annually to a chamber member who has demonstrated leadership in her business or profession, demonstrated support of professional women and provided unselfish assistance on their behalf; provided valuable service to the community; and been an active chamber member.

Freston has been with Questar, parent company of Mountain Fuel Supply Co., for 14 years. She is an active member of the Pacific Coast Gas Association, is chairwoman of the Governor's Human Resource Advisory Board and recently was a speaker in the Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series at the Gore School of Business at Westminster College.

She helped organize the Women's Resource Center at the University of Utah, has been a director of women's programs in the university's Division of Continuing Education, former president of Zonta International, and past chairwoman of the Salt Lake City Civil Service Commission.
