A 79-year-old woman was arrested for assault earlier this week after she apparently slugged a man sitting next to her on a UTA bus.
The woman was seated next to a window in the bus and pulled the rope to signal the driver to pull over at the next stop. The woman tried to exit past the man next to her, but he refused to stand while the bus was in motion and told her to wait until the bus stopped, a police report stated. The woman then clenched her fist and slugged the man in the chin.
When officers arrived at her home, the woman said she was defending herself and demonstrated her swing for them. Officers stated that it was obvious she is physically capable of handling herself, the report said.
