Entries for the 1991 Miss Asia of Utah Scholarship Pageant are due Monday, Feb. 25, a spokesman for the Asian Association of Utah said.
Held as part of the association's annual celebration of Asian culture, the spokesman said the pageant promotes community awareness of Asian culture through traditional costumes and talent presentation among contestants.The winner will receive a $500 scholarship to the college of her choice, with a $300 scholarship going to the first runner-up and a $200 scholarship to the second runner-up.
March 30 will be the day of the pageant, to be held in Hillcrest Junior High School in Murray. Contestants must be ages 17-to-25, single, female, of Asian/Pacific Islander background and with good moral character. They will compete in interview, swimsuit, talent, evening wear and traditional Asian costume categories.
