Rachel Schochet finished in the top 10 of the World Freestyle Championships in the mogul competition on Wednesday.

The Salt Lake skier missed getting into the final round of eight when the final skier in preliminaries, Melanie Palenik, of Littleton, Colo., slipped past her. Schochet scored a 20.34 on her final run to a 20.67 for Palenik.Schochet, a three-year member of the U.S. team, is currently ranked 14th in World Cup freestyle skiing.

The 1991 championships continued Thursday with the men's mogul event. Salt Lake skier Nelson Carmichael, the five-time mogul champion, was among the top favorites.
