A Perry man will serve concurrent sentences for killing a Newton man in a traffic accident Nov. 3.

Kelly J. Dinsdale, 27, Perry, was ordered by 1st District Court Judge Gordon J. Low on Monday to serve five years in the Utah State Prison and a year in the Cache County Jail for third-degree felony automobile homicide and a class A misdemeanor drunken driving injury accident.At his arraignment last month, Dinsdale agreed to plead guilty to avoid prosecution on stiffer charges.

Under the plea-bargain, the county also dropped charges of class A misdemeanor drunken driving based on a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or greater, a class B misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving left-of-center.

North Park Police said Dinsdale was traveling south on U.S. 91 in North Logan at about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 when his vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a northbound pickup truck driven by Thomas P. Peterson, 66, Newton.

Peterson was dead on arrival at a Logan hospital.

His passenger, Gaylen Stone, 64, Newton, was also injured but recovered from his injuries.

Dinsdale has been arrested for drunken driving four times.
