J.C. McLaughlin, a 30-year resident of Brigham City, was recently installed as Most Worshipful Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of Utah.

McLaughlin, a Texas native, is a senior research chemist at Great Salt Lake Minerals and Chemicals in Ogden. Before that he worked for Thiokol Chemical in Brigham City.McLaughlin's wife, Nanci Ayn, is a professional artist. They have two sons. He has served in numerous leadership roles within the Masonic fraternity.

He is an active 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and is currently serving as Master of Ceremonies in the Jordan Lodge of Perfection in Salt Lake City.

The Masonic Order has 3,500 members in Utah affiliated with 31 lodges.
