Barlow Nielsen Associates, a Salt Lake-based property management and commercial brokerage firm, has acquired the Utah interests of Grubb & Ellis Property Management, which is more than 1 million square feet of commercial properties.
This signals the end of Grubb & Ellis in the Utah market. Under the purchase agreement, Barlow Nielsen Associates will assume management of 14 Salt Lake area retail and office properties handled by Grubb & Ellis. The transfer became effective Feb. 1.Founded in 1985, Barlow Nielsen maintains a portfolio of 45 retail, office and industrial properties in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. The company provides management and leasing services for American Towers, American Plaza, several other buildings in downtown Salt Lake City and the Market Street Center, a new retail development in West Valley City.
A few of Grubb & Ellis' employees will be added to the 35-member Barlow Nielsen staff as a result of the acquisition.
