Utah State will be the highest-ranked of the four women's gymnastics teams competing Friday night at 7:30 in the annual Southwest Cup, which also includes six men's teams. The meet will be televised by ESPN on a tape-delayed basis and shown nationally Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. USU is ranked seventh nationally, its highest ever rating. Host Arizona State (5-2) is ranked ninth, Cal State-Fullerton (2-4) is 17th and Stanford (8-2) is 20th.

The Aggies, 5-3, are coming off their season-best score of 192.0 in a meet Monday against Boise State (183.8) in the Smith Spectrum. They've scored no lower than 188.75 in their last four meets.USU will probably start its three 38+ all-arounders: Barb Zahl (38.5 season high), Brenda Scholl (38.35) and Michele Bugbee (38.2) and use three-event specialists Julie Ryan, Natalie Cannon and Heidi Pfannenstiel.
