A teacher training session sponsored by the Deseret News and the Utah Jazz, will be held Saturday at the Murray High School Cafeteria.

The workshop is open to educators from the kindergarten through high school level. The $22 registration fee includes sessions, handouts, lunch and 120 classroom newspapers. Also, up to an hour of state district credit is available, subject to follow-up project requirements; and an hour of Weber State University graduate credit is also avaiable, for an additional $20 fee.A combination of writers, educators and representatives from the Jazz will participate in the seminar. Featured will be a panel discussion entitled "Spotlight on Sports." Participating on the panel will be Gordon Chiesa, Jazz assistant coach; Brad Rock, the Deseret News sportswriter who covers the Jazz; Anne Handy Jones, the assistant women's basketball coach at Weber State University; Jim Yerkovich, the head basketball coach and academic vice principal at Judge Memorial High School; and Craig Bolerjack of KSL Sports, who will be the panel moderator.

In addition, Chiesa, a coach with experience on both the collegiate and professional levels, will be the seminar's keynote speaker.

Classroom sessions will be presented by Deseret News writers Doug Robinson, Ann Whiting Allen, Twila Van Leer, Joseph Bauman and Carma Wadley. In addition, mini-sessions on "Sports in the Classroom" will be presented by Ellen Jeppson of the Davis School District, Nancy Andersen of the Granite School District, and Carolyn Dickson and Sherry Madsen of the Deseret Newspaper in Education staff.
