St. Anne's, a center for Ogden's homeless and transient population, is inching along in its attempt to raise $1.4 million to build a new facility.
Center director Chuck Rostkowski said as of Tuesday, the homeless shelter had raised about $900,000 and needs $500,000 to reach its goal."It's coming along very well," said Rostkowski. "We've gotten a lot of support from the community."
The fund-raising campaign kicked off last September with almost $600,000 already donated privately. The new facility will house single men, single women and families.
Ground will be broken in April or May for the 500,000-square-foot three-story center, and it could be open in the spring of 1992.
St. Anne's has been in operation in downtown Ogden for about 10 years. The current facility operates out of an old Catholic school building and has served thousands in need.
