R. Dennis Ickes, a Salt Lake attorney, was honored Feb. 1 at a testimonial dinner sponsored by Futures for Children, an American Indian children's educational support group.
Ickes, a member of the Nielsen & Senior firm, has served eight years as chairman of Futures for Children and 10 years as a member of the board of directors.Serving on a committee preparing for the testimonial were Dan Marriott, Randall Mackey, Penni Anne Cross, Frank Suitter, Al Rounds, Arthur Nielsen, Chris Cannon and Ruth Funk.
Representing the national organization were Ruth T. Frazier, president, New Mexico; Glen T. Randolph, vice chairman, Pennsylvania; John R. Cozart, treasurer, Texas; Ronald E. Blood, secretary, New Mexico; and Abbott Sekaquaptewa, chairman emeritus, Arizona. Members of the board joined in the salute to Ickes.
The Futures Through Education program of Futures for Children has 2,378 sponsors who support 2,674 American Indian children at all levels of schooling. It marks its 30th anniversary this year.
