A youth basketball team in Bountiful is asking the public for help in bringing a group of teenage Soviet basketball players to Utah.

The 15 Soviet players, trained by the Moscow-based SovinterSport Agency, are scheduled to play during halftime at the Feb. 16 Utah Jazz game. But because of a "breakdown in communication," the Soviet team doesn't have the $6,000 needed to get from New York to Salt Lake City, said Mike Jackson, Farmington, father of one of the boys who plays for the Bountiful Eagles Amateur Athletic Union basketball team, which is sponsoring the Soviets in the Western United States.

The Soviets are scheduled to play up and down the Wasatch Front before going to Los Angeles, where they will visit Disneyland and play in the Forum.

Anyone interested in helping bring the Soviets to Utah can call Jackson, 451-5806, or John Hille, 943-6741.
