A benefit concert for Tim Daynes will be presented by the University of Utah College of Fine Arts at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the Marriott Center for Dance.
Tim, the son of Skip Daynes, who has served as a founding member and chairman of the College of Fine Arts advisory board, suffered incapacitating injuries as a result of a diving accident. Proceeds from the benefit will go toward Tim's continuing medical costs.Music department faculty members David Power and JoAnn Ottley will join with Evan Call and Mary Ann Dresher to sing Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, as performed by ballet and modern dance faculty members Mark Borchelt, Ford Evans, Abby Fiat, Attila Ficzere, Phyllis Haskell and Sharee Lane.
Further concert numbers will come from Xan Johnson's Theatre School for Youth, and the modern dance and ballet departments, including the "Sylvia" pas de deux danced by Jennie Creer and Joseph Woelfel. The concert will close with a nine-piano arrangement of "Dance Macabre" performed by the piano faculty.
