Jay Heber Bishop, 69, died February 6, 1991 in Provo, Utah.

He was born February 17, 1921 in Sterling, Utah, to Heber Grant and Vera Elizabeth Swenson Bishop. He married Lue Rue Evans June 12, 1944 in the Manti LDS Temple. In Fontana, California, he served in the Bishopric, and as a High Councilman. In Utah he served as an Asst. Ward Clerk, a Stake Clerk for 17 years, and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a Provo Temple Worker, an Eagle Scout and served an LDS mission in California. He worked as a Plan Analyst for Salt Lake County and the Head of Department of Building Inspection for Utah County. Veteran of World War II. He loved sports.He is survived by his wife of Orem, a son and three daughters: Linda Bishop, Orem; Mrs. Bruce (JoAnne) Embry, American Fork; Gary Bishop, San Diego, Calif; Carolyn Stevens, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Arlene Hecker, El Cajon, Calif; Dorothela Knott, Clare Bishop, Louise Carling, Sylvia Miller, all of Bountiful; Lowry Bishop, Fruita, Colorado; Jan Clark, Fruit Heights. Preceded in death by a brother, Lars, and a sister, Helen West.

Funeral Services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. in the Cherry Hill 5th Ward, 135 East 2000 South, Orem. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Church one hour prior to services. Burial in the Orem City Cemetery. Military Rites by VFW, District 4.
