The Salt Lake Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will observe American History Month in a meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, 1580 E. Vine Street.

The chapter's honorees at this meeting include DAR good citizen Laura Hammitt, a Brighton High School senior; American History Month essay winner Tyson Taniguchi, an eighth-grader at St. Olaf's School in Bountiful; and National Defense Good Citizenship Medal recipient Emily Prince, a Butler Middle School ninth-grader. State award winners include Anabel Pinero, DAR Americanism Medal; James Hoyt, Valley High School, Orderville, Outstanding Teacher of American History; and Andrea Weber, a West High School senior receiving the DAR Scholarship.Women are eligible for DAR membership who can prove direct descent from a man or woman who supported the cause for Independence 1775-1783.
