Richard Snelgrove of Salt Lake City is still waiting for word from President Reagan that 18 pounds of jellybean ice cream made it to the White House kitchen.

Snelgrove, 33, Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, said he will gladly exchange a thank-you note from the president for a promise to boost his campaign. An ice cream manufacturer by trade, Snelgrove said he mixed up a big batch of jellybean ice cream - "of course using the president's favorite Jelly Belly brand tangerine and cherry flavors" - after hearing about how hot it has been in the nation's capital this summer.
