A preliminary hearing has been scheduled Friday for a Cedar City man charged with having more than 120 pounds of marijuana in his house.

Brian D. Gordon was arrested Wednesday after law enforcement officers discovered the stash. He appeared before 5th Circuit Judge Robert Braithwaite on Thursday and was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in excess of 100 pounds, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.Iron County Attorney Scott Burns said the arrest came after a Cedar City police officer went to the house to issue Gordon a reckless driving citation.

Burns said the officer could smell marijuana and arrested him. After obtaining a search warrant, he said officers found several garbage bags filled with pot, along with another 60 pounds inside a freezer adjacent to Gordon's kitchen.

Burns said the value of the marijuana could be more than $200,000.
