An aerialist who fell about 40 feet from a high wire during a Wednesday evening performance of the Jordan International Circus at Utah State University's Spectrum was in serious but stable condition Friday morning at LDS Hospital.
Jorge Humberto Castro, 26, Dallas, Texas, suffered a skull fracture, a fractured left wrist and fractured left cheek bone but was alert, said hospital spokesman Craig Rasmussen.Castro was first treated at Logan Regional Hospital and then transported by air ambulance to LDS Hospital.
An estimated 4,000 to 6,000 people, including hundreds of children, saw the aerialist tumble to the wooden floor. Many were emotionally upset after the accident, said Cory LaBianca, public relations director at the Logan hospital.
LaBianca said a psychologist was scheduled to talk Friday night at the hospital with parents and their parents who witnessed the incident.
