Notre Dame football All-American Raghib "Rocket" Ismail ran an NCAA indoor season-best 6.07 seconds for 55 meters on Friday in the Central Collegiate Conference track and field championships.

Ismail, the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, set a meet and track record with his run at Purdue's Lambert Fieldhouse. The previous indoor best this season was 6.14 by Ainsley Blackman of South Carolina State.The NCAA indoor record is 6.00 by Lee McRae of Pittsburgh in 1986.

Ismail, who has given up his final year of football eligibility to enter the NFL draft in April, qualified for the NCAA indoor championships in Indianapolis in March.
