A collection of law books valued at more than $3,000 has been presented to the Davis County Jail's library for use by inmates. The collection was given to Sheriff Glenn S. Clary by Rhett Zimmerman as Zimmerman's Eagle Scout community service project.
"I hope that these books will be helpful for your inmates and that they will get used," Zimmerman said in presenting the volumes to Clary on Wednesday. Clary called Zimmerman's effort a fine project and presented him with a certificate of appreciation.Zimmerman, of Layton, is a member of Explorer Post 446. The 300 law books will be placed in the library at the new jail under construction in west Farmington.
Inmates representing themselves in court or showing a need for legal research will have access to the collection, the first in-house law library in the Davis jail.
