State licensing regulators have issued an emergency suspension of the license of a Sandy physician accused of falsifying his credentials to practice medicine, documents said.

Steven K. Campbell was issued a license by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing based on the license he had secured in Michigan, a petition issued by the division said. But last December, Michigan regulators revoked Campbell's license after finding he did not complete medical school requirements and that he had submitted forged and fictitious documents to the school and Michigan to get a license, the petition said.

The division's order for immediate suspension of Campbell's license to practice and prescribe medicine said Campbell posed an immediate and significant danger to the public.

Campbell was with Sandy Emergi-Care, but officials at the clinic declined to confirm whether he still works there until they receive notice of the suspension.
