Daniel Dail, associate professor of biology at Southern Utah University, was named Educator of the Year by the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce at the organization's annual banquet recently.

The agricultural program was at a low level when Dail arrived in the spring of 1988, according to the citation, having been through budget cuts and the loss of a teaching position. "His challenge was to rebuild and rejuvenate the program."Dail was credited with converting the school's farm into a land laboratory, revising the curriculum, visiting rural Utah communities to recruit students for agricultural programs and helping to establish an interdisciplinary degree combining biology, agriculture and business.
