Harold Edward Nixon, 84, of Orem died peacefully February 4, 1991, of causes incident to age.
He was born October 25, 1906, a son of Thomas Edward and Lucy Ann Pendleton Nixon in Fruita, Utah, now part of Capital Reef National Monument, where he developed his lifelong love of the Red Cliffs of Utah. He married Bernice Hazel in June of 1923, of that union six children were born, three of whom died during or shortly after birth. They were later divorced. He married Emma Richard in September of 1947. Of this union one child was born; Richard Harold Nixon.After a variety of jobs in his youth, as a miner, milkman and laborer in a pipe plant, he settled with United States Steel Company, retiring after 35 years of employment at both the Ironton and Geneva Works. He loved his family, gardening, hunting, fishing, and his pets.
Survivors include his wife, Emma, of Orem; two sons and two daughters; James Edward Nixon of Provo; Richard H. Nixon of Salt Lake City; Grace Davis of Pleasant Grove; Mary Robertson of Alamo, Nevada. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren and one sister, Erma Osborne of Blanding, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State in Orem. Friends may call Friday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
