In all, 36 high temperature records for Feb. 5 were either broken or tied across the United States Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. The list of broken records extended from Montana to Maine and as far south as South Carolina. The nation's highest temperature Tuesday was 85 degrees at Yuma, Ariz. On Wednesday, however, rain was falling in parts of the Southwest and Midwest. Showers were forecast in the Southeast.
