KTVX-Ch. 4 anchorman Phil Riesen is recovering at a local hospital after surgery for a brain aneurysm on Sunday afternoon.
The 47-year-old newsman is expected to make a complete recovery and may be released from the hospital by the end of the week.Riesen was taken to Holy Cross Hospital after complaining of a bad headache after Friday's early evening news. He underwent six hours of surgery on Sunday.
"His doctor told me things went very well," said KTVX news director John Edwards. "The outlook for a complete recovery looks extremely good."
It's expected that Riesen will be released from intensive care within a day or two and may not have to spend more than a week hospitalized. Edwards said, if all goes well, Riesen will be sitting behind the anchor desk again in a few weeks.
"Apparently they caught it before any permanent damage was done," he said. "They don't think there will be any side effects from the surgery."
