Trolley Square will celebrate what it calls its "multimillion-dollar renaissance" with "A Square Affair" Aug. 24-28 - a five-day event that begins with a black-tie benefit Wednesday for Westminster College.

Included will be a strolling dinner, a silent auction of items donated by Trolley Square merchants and a performance by '50s rock 'n' roll idol Fabian. Drawings will be held for a year's tuition at Westminster, a fur jacket and a trip to Hawaii. Tickets to the benefit are $60, with tickets for the prize drawing $10 apiece. (Reservations may be made by calling 521-9877.)Public festivities commence the following day at 10 a.m. with an autograph session with Fabian, who in recent years has toured with Frankie Avalon, Chubby Checker and Bobby Rydel. He will be followed by the Amnesia Duo, a mime performance, clowns and a magic show and, at 7 p.m., a fall fashion show.

Friday activities, beginning at noon, will include performances by the Westminster Players and, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Salt Lake Good Time Jazz Band. Then on Saturday the schedule includes the Westminster Quintet (11:30 a.m.), another mime performance and fashion show, BYU's Young Ambassadors (3:30-4 p.m.) and, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Bob Bailey Big Band with singer Marilyn Copeland.

Sunday the emphasis will be on family entertainment, with clowns, jugglers, magicians, face painters and performances, at 2 and 3 p.m., by the Salt City Transfer.
