Keith Balzer put San Diego State ahead with a 15-foot bank shot with 50 seconds left in the second overtime Sunday night and the Aztecs later blocked two Wyoming shots to secure a 87-84 Western Athletic Conference victory.

Balzer, a reserve who went 7-for-10 and finished with 17 points, gave San Diego State (9-10, 4-5 WAC) an 86-84 lead with his only field goal of the second overtime.Courtie Miller deflected a shot by the Cowboys' Tim Breaux with 30 seconds left, and Chris McKinney controlled the ball for the Aztecs. With 10 seconds to go, Arthur Massey increased the lead to 87-84 by converting 1 of 2 free throws.

Wyoming (15-5, 5-3) failed on its last try to tie the game when 6-foot-10 Joe McNaull blocked a shot by 6-3 guard Todd Barnett with three seconds left.

Marty Dow scored 22 points and had a game-high 15 rebounds to lead the Aztecs while Massey added 18 points and 7 assists.

The Cowboys, who dropped their second straight game, were paced by Reginald Slater with 31 points. Reggie Page scored 7 of his 11 points in the two overtimes and totaled 11 rebounds.
