A $12,500 grant "to support artists' compensation during the 1988-89 season" has been awarded by the National Endowment of the Arts to Salt Lake Acting Company.
Edward J. Gryska, SLAC's artistic director, said the company has been funded by NEA since 1980 and that "support of the NEA has been critical to our growth as a professional theater company. We have continued to apply for and receive funding support for artists. SLAC expends over $100,000 per year in artistic compensation. We are very grateful to the NEA for its continued support."SLAC, Utah's sixth-largest performing arts organization, will open its 1988-89 season on Sept. 14 with "Steel Magnolias."
