Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, on her way to California to help Ronald Reagan celebrate his birthday, made a brief stop in Fargo, N.D., and took the opportunity to munch "delightful" chocolate-covered potato chips.

"I am very pleased to have had a chance to call into North Dakota," she told Fargo Chamber of Commerce President John Campbell, who offered her the coated potato chips."I've never heard of them before," she said. "We'll look forward to them. We'll send for some more. They're positively delightful."

Thatcher spent about an hour at the airport Friday afternoon while going through customs and getting her plane refueled.

"She seemed to be a very, very gracious lady," said Joe Parmer, executive director of Fargo's Hector International Airport.

Reagan turns 80 Wednesday.
