BYU wrapped up its ninth day of practice with a Saturday scrimmage in Cougar Stadium. "The defense had the upper hand in our other scrimmage," said Cougar Coach LaVell Edwards. "But today offense had the upper hand. The offense looked very impressive."

Edwards said the hitting was good and praised the effort of kickers Jason Chaffetz and Earl Kauffman. Each had a field goal.Jeff Frandsen had a 60-yard reception and Mike O'Brien scored twice on runs. QBs Sean Covey, Ty Detmer and Chris Hoge accounted for at least one touchdown apiece.
