Brigham Young University quarterback Ty Detmer, the 1990 Heisman Trophy winner, will be the featured speaker at the Payson Chamber of Commerce Installation Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Detmer was also named the UPI College Football Player of the Year, and was on every all-America list.The dinner, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Payson City Center Banquet Hall, 439 W. Utah Ave., will be served by Mountain View Hospital Catering and will feature prime rib.
Tickets for the event, which are $16, are available at First Security Bank, 95 N. Main, and the Petal Pantry, 54 N. Main, and must be purchased in advance.
Willis Pulver, long-time resident and owner of Payson's Will-Lo Hobby Shop, will be installed as the 1991 Chamber of Commerce president. First vice-president and president-elect will be Mountain View Hospital spokesperson Pam White.
Other officers of the chamber include Kathy Brandon, past president; Scott Spencer, second vice-president; Paul Sorensen, executive vice-president; Thora Jean Jewett, secretary; Brent York, City Council adviser.
