Leland H. (Jack) Sorensen, 67, of Orem, died February 1, 1991 of cancer at his home.
Born July 9, 1923 in Provo, Utah to Mads and Della Hansen Sorensen. He married Norma Jean Storey on June 29, 1949 in Springville, Utah; marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He lived in the Orem Vineyard area all of his life. Attended Lincoln High School. Served in World War II in the 8th Air Force. He hauled milk for Federated Dairy with his father for many years. He also worked for Bunker Feed and Geneva Rock hauling concrete for 22 years. He and his wife cared for foster children for many years.He was an active member of the Orem 1st Park Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Orem; two sons and three daughters, Kerry Garth Sorensen, Keizer, Oregon; Ronald Lee Sorensen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Bryan (Paula) Cook, Pleasant Grove; Mary Lamoreaux, Provo; Connie Sorensen, Salt Lake City; foster children, Frank Dade, U.S. Air Force, Philippines; Lynn Wilkerson, Santaquin; 14 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Robert C. Sorensen, Orem; Mrs. Gary (Nettie Mae) Thompson, Orem; Mrs. Dorthy Wise, Washington; Mrs. Alford (Fay) Jensen, Mesa, Ariz. Preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Max Sorensen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, 11 a.m., at the Park 1st Ward Chapel, 750 West Center, Orem. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State, Monday evening, 7-9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
