Thirty members of a German air force unit assigned to go to Turkey are refusing to go because they do not want to fight in the gulf war, a lawyer said Saturday.

Bremen lawyer Guenther Werner said the men based their case on Germany's constitution, which says no one can be sent to fight in a war against his conscience.Germany is sending 800 airmen to Turkey with air-defense missiles to back up a force of 18 fighter aircraft and 200 men already stationed there.
