A Clearfield man charged with raping a woman and then driving her to Wyoming in the trunk of his car pleaded guilty to one charge of attempted aggravated sexual assault Wednesday in 2nd District Court.
Jodie Hymas, 24, was charged with rape, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in the July 30 incident, which began in Clearfield and ended in Evantson, Wyo.All three charges are first-degree felonies, which carry prison terms of five years to life. The aggravated sexual assault charge also carries a minimum mandatory prison term of five, 10 or 15 years.
By pleading to attempted aggravated sexual assault, Hymas still faces a five-year-to-life prison term but not minimum mandatory time.
Judge Douglas L Cornaby scheduled a sentencing hearing for Hymas on March 4.
