Eleanor Norton Ringwood, age 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep, January 30, 1991, in a Salt Lake City convalescence center following a lingering illness.

Born January 4, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elvin J. and Martha Amanda Barron Norton, and was the youngest of eight children. She married Edwin L Ringwood on September 1, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She graduated in 1947 with honors from the University of Utah.She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and did graduate work in Frenchat the University. Her father was the U's registrar and she worked in that office at various times during the 1950's, 60's and 70's.In the 1960's, Eleanor worked as a nurse's aide at Holy Cross Hospital. Later she worked at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas and helped care for her 101-year-old mother. Eleanor leaves a legacy of good works, unfailing good humor and devotion to her family and her faith.

Survived by her seven children, Jon L. Ringwood, Bountiful, Scott A. Ringwood, Las Vegas, Lane (Mrs. Dayle) Bennett, Albuquerque, Bruce T. Ringwood, Blue Springs, Mo., Rex N Ringwood, Upland, Calif.; Lynn H. Ringwood, Grain Valley, MO and Ann (Mrs. Christopher) Davidson, Torrance, Calif; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Also surviving are brothers, E. Virgil, Vernon L. and Joseph A. Norton, all from Salt Lake, Howard J. Norton, Idaho Falls, Harold W. Norton, St. George and Donald B. Norton, Vancouver, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews and by her dear friends, Jane Broadbent Malan, Salt Lake City, Jane Scofield Pilant, Dallas, Oregon; and Eleanor Willie Teel, Tucson. Preceded in death by her sister, Marva Ralph.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5th, 11:00 am, at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Charleston Cemetery, Wasatch County. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
