Mark Fay Child, 89-years-old, passed away Friday, February 1, 1991 at the Humana Hospital, Davis North.
He was born August 3, 1901 in Hooper, Utah, son of Mark A. and Emma Simpson Child. He married Viola Criddle June 4, 1919 in Hooper, Utah; marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had been a farmer and cattleman. He was employed at Layton Sugar Factory, the Ogden Arsenal, and also at R.C. Willey Home Furnishing. He was born and raised in Hooper, Utah and he lived in Syracuse for the past 67 years. He attended Hooper public schools. He was an active member of the Syracuse 10th LDS Ward, he served as a faithful home teacher for over 65 years. He enjoyed doing temple work for many years, and he held many priesthood leadership callings over the years.He is survived by his wife, Syracuse; three sons and a daughter, Carl Dale and wife Ireta Child, Layton; William H. and wife Pat Child, Holladay; Sheldon F. and wife Joan Child, Syracuse; Helen and husband Keith West, Syracuse; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., in the Syracuse 10th LDS Ward Chapel, 1313 South 2500 West. Friends may call at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, Sunday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and at the church, onMonday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Syracuse City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the LDS General Mssionary Fund or the Utah Lupus Foundation.
