Harry Belafonte says blacks should start looking for other political leaders besides Jesse Jackson. In a magazine interview, Belafonte says the black community's dependence on Jackson "has seriously impaired our ability as a people to look around the field . . . to plow all of our resources into one personality - one person - and endow that individual with the ability to solve all of our problems is totally incorrect." Belafonte says he agrees with Jackson on many political and philosophical matters but says Jackson is too hungry for publicity. "A lot of people are questioning if Jesse is truly out there to lead in the highest moral sense or if he's out there for personal power and personal gain," Belafonte said. "That is the question that is being asked."
