The Nephi City Council has presented an award for seven years of service to Police Chief Wayne Hoaldridge, who is leaving to become chief of police in Riverdale, Weber County.

Hoaldridge took over the job from William O. Young in January 1984.Nephi Mayor Robert Steele presented Hoaldridge with a plaque thanking him for the seven years he had devoted to the police department in Nephi. "We appreciate the professionalism you have brought to the department," said Steele.

A letter to Hoaldridge was read by Randy McKnight, city administrator. The letter commended Hoaldridge for his accomplishments and expressed appreciation for his contributions as a member of the community. "Your volunteer work has not gone unnoticed," said McKnight.

In Riverdale, a suburb of Ogden, Hoaldridge will be in charge of 15 officers. The Nephi Police Department has five officers.

Hoaldridge previously served as chief of police in Fredonia, Ariz., and was an officer in Dallas, Texas and in Provo. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
