Earl Julfs Groth, 80, passed away on Jan. 28, 1991 in Salt Lake City.
He was born Mar. 21, 1910, son of Arthur and Marie Julfs Groth in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a life-long resident of Salt Lake City. Graduated from East High School in 1928. Married Ruth Marie Evans Aug. 17, 1935 in Salt Lake City. Graduated from U of U law school with an L.L.B. degree in 1934. Doctor of Jurisprudence and active member of the Utah State Bar for 46 years. Member of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. Associated with U.S.A.F. & G. Co. for 38 years. During this period of time, he was superintendent of claims for 25 years and was also associated with Transport Clearing Int. for 25 years. Charter member of the Board of Trustees of Wasatch Presbyterian Church. Member of Argenta Lodge #3, F.& A.M., Salt Lake City, Scottish Rite and El Kalah Shrine for many years. Chartered member of El Kalah Wreckers and active 30 years. Former member of Salt Lake City Junior Chamber of Commerce and Sugarhouse Kiwanis Club.Survived by daughters, Carol Gregrich, Salt Lake City; Julia McCormack, Roy; son, David Groth, Leiden, Netherlands; two brothers, Ray Groth and Robert Groth; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, April, Eddie, Wendy, Tracy, Jennie and Chad; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher and Kirra. Preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 2, 1991 at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, where friends may call one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Deacon Fund of Wasatch Presbyterian Church, or to the Intermountain Unit of Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, in his name.
